You already have a site, on Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy, or WordPress. I rebuild it as a fast site of its own. The address keeps working, and the monthly subscription stops.
New build$4,000
No site yet, or one that isn't worth keeping. I design and build it from scratch around what your customers call and ask about.
Half to start, half when it goes live. Both prices are flat, and anything unusual gets its own price before I start on it.

How it works
You write
Your web address, what you have now, and what you want. Within a day, I'll tell you which of the two prices above applies. If you'd rather spend fifteen minutes on the phone, say so and I'll call you.
You send what you have
Photos, hours, prices, anything you want kept. If your current site already has it, I pull it across myself. The sooner I have these, the sooner the site is done.
You see it before anyone else does
The finished site goes up on a temporary address first, while your real one keeps running untouched. Nothing points at the new site until you've looked at it and said so.
It goes live
The address moves over, and you cancel the old subscription. I keep the hosting running from then on.
Questions
How is hosting free? What's the catch?
A static site is a set of plain files, with no server sitting there costing money. Serving one costs me almost nothing, so I don't bill for it. The site and its hosting are yours. I run the hosting, and I'll hand it over the day you ask.
I already have someone who handles my website.
Then keep them. This is a one-time build, not a retainer. What you end up with is an ordinary website on standard tools that any developer can pick up.
What happens to my web address and my email?
The address stays yours the whole time; it just starts pointing somewhere faster. Email runs on separate settings and keeps working through the move.
Do I need to know anything technical?
No. A site can be set up so you can make your own edits if you want to. If you'd rather text me the change, a small change is $35.
Will I lose my Google ranking?
It shouldn't. I point each old address at its matching new page, so links and search results keep working. Search engines also favor pages that load fast.
Where are you, and does it matter?
Westfield, Massachusetts, and no. A site gets built the same way whether you're down the road or three time zones out. Either way, most of it happens over the phone and by email. Being nearby just means meeting in person is easy when it helps.
What if I want something more than this?
Say so in the first email. What's priced above is a fast, well-made, ordinary website, and it's what most businesses need. Two kinds of project fall outside it. One is a site that has to do more than show information. The other is a fully custom design, where I think through every decision and work out every detail. Both get their own quote, and they're the work I most want to do.
