Newton's Laser Tag
A mobile laser tag company's site, moved off Squarespace with its travel-cost calculator rebuilt.
Newton’s Laser Tag is a mobile laser tag party company serving New England and Eastern New York since 1999, with over 5,400 parties run. Actium moved its site off Squarespace and rebuilt it as a fast static site.
The problem
The homepage shipped megabytes of Squarespace framework the site never used. Its one interactive feature was a zip-code travel-cost calculator. To avoid a pricier Squarespace plan, it ran inside an embed block, where it couldn’t be styled or extended.
What was built
The rebuild keeps the site’s arcade look: heavy display type, monospace details, and the laser-lit hero. The travel calculator now runs on the page itself, styled like the rest of the site. It uses the same 2,853-zip distance table and per-mile rate, and shows the distance next to the cost. For a zip code outside the range, it asks the visitor to get in touch.

The only script left is the calculator’s own 38 KB bundle, 11 KB gzipped, carrying the 2,853-zip distance table.
Where it stands
The rebuild went live on newtonslasertag.com in July 2026. Its DNS moved from Squarespace to Cloudflare, and the site answers with or without the www prefix. The Squarespace subscription is canceled.
